Couldn't really find a song I wanted to post, so I thought a Fancy Shawl song would work. There are two styles of fancy, traditional and modern (traditional is actually a category too but much slower, I'm talking fancy traditional and modern) my sis, could have smoked these girls! ;) peace

Posting another Native moment....woman's fancy shawl! Really look at the feet...posted this before but in our dancing it is about the feet and there is a lot going on here, see the horse kick? Good dancing with good representation.

Fancy Shawl, Crow Hop

...here is a pretty good vid of a crow hop. You all know I'm about being traditional but this actually is not that bad, old school wise.

Sneak up Dance...

...we have a dance called a sneak up. It is when the warriors would sneak up on another tribe or the enemy. This is the womens version, my sis knows the shaking of the shawl but she didn't do it at UC Davis, she felt alone. Hey my sis is from the rez and the girls she was dancing with are from the Cali bay area...they don't know where they from. N e ways...this is how it should be. ;-) peace

Watch the Feet!

For my regular readers, my auntie has just a couple days left from the cancer. For new readers, well my auntie has cancer. I wanted to post some dancing videos from my culture. We have old school fancy dancing and then we have fancy SHAWL dancing. It just makes me feel better to watch these videos. I hope all is well and thanks for sharing, thanks for reading. ;-) peace

Happy Friday...

...ok it's a bit early on Friday but I had to work late and I also got back from the movies. I went and saw Oceans 13, um...it's ok... a rental. Life is good here but busy! So my hobbies of golfing and bowling are intensifying and I'm looking to meet more people who are in to that. Found this vid on youtube, it's from a different angle than the one I've posted before. Hope all is well with everyone... ;-) peace

It's powwow nite...

...so I just got done about a half hour ago working from home and finishing things I needed to finish. So to relax, I take my ass to youtube and look for videos involving my people. So I found this vid, it is normally a traditional dancer man who closes out the ending of a powwow, but this lil girl did her thing. The reason it struck me so, was because she just has a shawl, no outfit, just a shawl. In the olden days that's all it was, just a shawl, all you needed. Nowadays, you have sequins and sunglasses and bright colors, but back then, if you had a shawl that is all you needed to be fancy. She's young, and technique? mmm...not the best but she dances, she closes it down. I give her respect for dancing in her tennis shoes...for not feeling bad she don't have no outfit, she uses what she has and she does it well. To me this is a real fancy dancer. ;-) peace
One more thing, more importantly...when everyone else is walking out...she finishes the song, she dances until the end. That is so cool. Love that. Hahempi waste yelo (have a good night) ;-)
